Our office opened it's doors in December 2005, however, it's history goes a lot further back.

Dr.Cerqueira wanted to be a dentist since she was 12 years old. This passion for dentistry was passed on to her by her father, who has been practicing dentistry for 38 years. Dr. Cerqueira would spend her after school afternoons and summers helping out at her father's practice and dreaming of the day she would be a dentist herself.

This day finally came in May of 2003, when she graduated from UNC Chapel Hill, where she had the honor of being voted "Most Outstanding Dental Student" by her peers and professors. During her years at UNC, Dr. Cerqueira volunteered at the Murdock Center Dental Clinic for mentally handicaped individuals during her dental rotations. She was also invited to serve on a forensic dentistry identification team on a plane crash in Charlotte, NC in 2003. Other activities included volunteering on the North Carolina Baptist Association Dental Bus for underserved individuals, as well as being the first Dental student to attend an international rotation in Florianopolis, Brazil.

Prior to attending the UNC School of Dentistry, Dr. Cerqueira attended UNC-W where she received a B.S in Biology, met her husband, and fell in love with the Wilmington area.

Upon graduating from UNC, Dr. Cerqueira went back to her hometown to practice with her father. While there, Dr. Cerqueira was exposed to the long lost art of "true general dentistry", performing everything from Cosmetic bonding, to Root Canals and Dentures -mainly due to the fact that the amount of specialists was very limited there.

Dentistry in a small town was exciting, allowing her to perform such a wide variety of procedures. The ocean and the town she loved so much, however, was too far away. Dr. Cerqueira had been vacationing on Pleasure Island since she was a child. She also knew that this areas exploding growth warranted the opening of a new dental facility.

It was with this in mind that Dr. Cerqueira decided to open her own practice in Carolina Beach. We opened our doors in December and have been overwhelmed by the warm reception given to us by the community.

We experienced extremely rapid growth and couldn't thank our patient's enough for the support and referrals given so far. We will continue to strive to make every single one of our patients feel special, to get to know them, and to offer them the highest level of service.
